Over the last decade, Dixie Huey has successfully guided over 60 wineries  ranging from smaller family-owned ventures like Stoller Vineyards, Calera and Joseph Phelps to international businesses like Symington Family Estates and Diageo.  Her depth of expertise and strategic focus provide valuable insight on the need for measurable return on marketing investment.  She approaches marketing projects through the lens of a management consultant, working with clients to identify strengths and challenges, creating a plan of action and overseeing or implementing it to achieve results.  Integrity, expertise, proactive communication, and focus on solutions and process improvement are her guiding business principles.  As a member of the Institute of Management Consultants, she is pursuing the Certified Management Consultant designation which is recognized in 43 countries and awarded to less than 1% of consultants.

Huey’s work has appeared on the History Channel's "Modern Marvels"; the Today Show; on numerous radio segments; and in most major wine, food and lifestyle publications in the U.S.   Within her 12 years of industry experience, Huey has worked as a buyer, wine marketing instructor, and traveled extensively to world wine regions.  She holds a Master of Business Administration in finance , the advanced certificate from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust and a certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers.  Huey is a frequent panelist, business writer and competition judge. 

Before founding Trellis Wine Consulting, Huey served as Director of Marketing & Communications for Premium Port Wines, the North American importer for the Symington Family Estates of Portugal, the leading exporter of premium Port worldwide.   Prior to representing the Symington Family, she managed public relations for Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines, a subsidiary of the world’s premier drinks business.  As senior account executive at Calhoun & Company, she provided counsel to Joseph Phelps, Louis Bernard, E. & J. Gallo, Kim Crawford, JUSTIN, and Calera, among others.  Her past experience includes working as a buyer, serving as adjunct wine marketing instructor for the Northwest Viticulture Center and extensive travel to world wine regions in North America, Europe, and South Africa.

Born in North Carolina, she was graduated cum laude with a BA in psychology and a minor in French from Duke University.  While at Duke she spent a semester studying at La Sorbonne in Paris and developed a wine education program for her fellow students. When she is not thinking about business or wine, Huey enjoys playing with her two Newfoundlands, running, tennis, writing, cooking, and volunteering as a career counselor and interviewer for Duke University.
