Dixie Gill Huey, Founder of Trellis Wine Consulting, LLC, is a wine industry veteran with a decade of experience in marketing and management.  She has guided over 30 wineries ranging in size from small, family-owned operations to corporations.   Her work has appeared on the History Channel's "Modern Marvels", the Today Show, in numerous radio segments and in industry, food and lifestyle print circulation too high to count!

One of Dixie's main strengths is her all-encompassing passion for wine; she continually seeks experience in all aspects of the industry from winegrowing and production to service and education.  She is a wine marketing instructor at Chemeketa Community College's Northwest Viticultural Center in Oregon, holds a certificate from the Court of Master Sommeliers, and is a frequent industry panelist and wine competition judge.  She has served as a Contributing Editor to Charlotte Taste Magazine, worked in various restaurant and retail establishments and traveled extensively to wine regions in Europe, North America and South Africa.

Before founding Trellis Wine Consulting, Dixie served as Director of Marketing & Communications for Premium Port Wines, the North American importer for the Symington Family Estates of Portugal, the leading exporter of premium Port worldwide.   Prior to representing the Symington Family, she managed public relations for Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines, a subsidiary of the world’s premier drinks business.  She  has also provided counsel to Joseph Phelps, Louis Bernard, E. & J. Gallo, Kim Crawford, JUSTIN, and Calera, among others. 

A native of North Carolina, Dixie was graduated cum laude with an AB in psychology and a minor in French from Duke University.  While at Duke she spent a semester studying at La Sorbonne in Paris and developed a wine education program for her fellow students.  She holds a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in finance from University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.  When she is not thinking about business or wine, Dixie enjoys cooking, running, tennis, writing, dreaming about owning a Newfie and volunteering as a career counselor and interviewer for Duke University.
